SIGGRAPH 2009 will Showcase Synchronous Objects
ACCAD is once again part of SIGGRAPH, the premiere international conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques. The Synchronous Objects project was accepted into the juried Information Aesthetics Showcase. Information Aesthetics is a new thematic area at SIGGRAPH this year, recognizing the increasingly prominent role that information visualization and data graphics are assuming in our digitally mediated culture. Professors Maria Palazzi (ACCAD/Design) and Norah Zuniga-Shaw (Dance/ACCAD) have been invited to present a talk on the project as part of the showcase. SIGGRAPH 2009 will be held in New Orleans and attracts an audience of more than thirty thousand.

Sundagger Explorer Opens in New Mexico
Professor Alan Price, ACCAD/Design, participated in the May 13th opening installation of his 3D interactive model of the ancient calendar site in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. The Sun Dagger Explorer is now part of the Space Frontiers Exhibit at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque. Graduate student Mary Twohig (Design) has worked with Alan on the Chaco project this year.

Kalamazoo Animation Festival 2009 ~ Educators Conference Presentation
Maria Palazzi, Vita Berezina-Blackburn and Graduate Student Iuri Lioi traveled to Kalamazoo, MI to present Animation at the Center of Interdisciplinary Collaborations. They were invited to give this presentation two times during the KAFI Festival - Educators Conference on May 14th.
