Description:
VICKI is software that generates movement commands either for or during a performance. VICKI is Max/MSP based, and was created at Ohio University's Aesthetic Technologies Lab in collaboration with Suguru Goto of Ircam and Marlon Barrios Solano of Harvestworks. Julie is testing VICKI to see how the bot affects dance technique, pedagogy, improvisation, and choreographic palette. This research has been presented at Sarah Lawrence College and at the 6th annual Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities. Tony Schultz's class at Sarah Lawrence has been given a copy of the patch in order to research how dancers use the program if left to their own purposes. Additionally, she is collaborating with Yicun Sun (UCI MFA) on a performance using VICKI telematically. Julie continues to share the program with those who are interested. If interested, please visit Choreobot8.wordpress.com , where the research is housed, and make a request.
