Information Design and Data Visualization

The Department of Design and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) seek an Assistant Professor (tenure-eligible) or Associate Professor (tenured) of Design with expertise in Information Design and Data Visualization. Candidates should be accomplished information designers with expertise in the visual translation of data-driven content and the ability to use current and emerging computational media and methods to discover, explore, analyze, and communicate complex ideas, concepts, and narratives.

    Staff Positions
    ACCAD Systems Manager Position

    Functions as a member of the Arts and Sciences Technology Services (ASCTech) Support Services team working in collaboration with the Director of ACCAD as the primary provider of all aspects of computer hardware and software support to users in ACCAD. Provides technical leadership in hardware and software infrastructure of ACCAD. Performs systems development and automation in a heterogeneous environment. Experienced systems administrator, with a broad background and the ability to support Windows, Linux, and Mac. Capable of handling operational tasks in support of both general IT systems and in the operation of specialized technologies including motion capture systems, human-computer interaction devices, and distributed rendering systems. Strong communication skills as well as problem-solving abilities as an individual or with groups required. The ability to make decisions and perform well under pressure is essential. An appreciation of the nature of the animation/graphics field is ideal. Responsible for supporting and implementing systems within the Center, ensuring that system hardware and software and general operating systems are functioning as required, enabling the researchers, students and associated faculty to work effectively and efficiently. Responsible for the installation, maintenance and performance of systems hardware and software, including servers, network devices, workstations, specialized graphics systems, and integrated A/V systems. Works directly with the ACCAD director in setting and organizing system priorities and planning and implementing system upgrades and replacement cycles.
