Will I get a degree in computer animation, if I take courses at ACCAD?
ACCAD is a reserach center focused on academic offerings and research opportunities. ACCAD does not offer a degree. Students studying at ACCAD are enrolled in affiliated graduate programs at OSU.

Students studying at ACCAD have historically come from the following graduate degree programs:
Art, Art Education, Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication Design, Architecture, Dance, Music, Theatre, and Computer Science and Engineering.

You would receive a Masters or Ph.D. degree from any one of these programs. Masters degrees include the MFA and the MA. You need to contact each department separately to find out more about their program.
(Department contacts, and web pages are noted on the page Affiliated Departments)

What kind of software packages do you teach at
ACCAD?

ACCAD does not teach software but instead investigates technology as a form of artistic exploration. At ACCAD we hope to impart a unique blend of artistic vision and talent with computer knowledge. Many recruiters in the industry tell us, they do not simply want someone who is knowledgeable about software. They need people with vision, creativity, and design skills. Color, form, storytelling and design are the focus of our curriculum and high end professional level software is used to support those goals.

ACCAD primarily uses the following software packages: Maya, Combustion, Motionbuilder, Vicon Workstation, and Adobe/Macromedia products. See our Facilities page for more details.

Are research assistantships available at ACCAD?
Graduate Research Assistantships are available depending on the research projects currently in house. The number of these GRA positions available varies from year to year. Check the ACCAD Positions page for current listings of available GRA positions.

What benefits will I receive with an assistantship?
1- Experience.
A GRA gives you hands-on working experience on a research project. A GRA's job assignment will differ, depending on the project.

2- Monthly stipends.
GRA positions provide monthly stipends.

3- Tuition/Fee Waiver.
If a GRA has a 50% appointment (20 hours per week workload) for one quarter, the Department pays the student's tuition and fees for the quarter. If a GRA maintains the same position for three consecutive quarters, the student's tuition and fees for the fourth quarter will be paid, even if the student is not working in the fourth quarter.
