Teaching Opportunities Listing:

Part-Time Faculty/Instructor, History of Computer and Video Game Design
The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design, currently has openings for adjunct instructors to develop content for and to teach an undergraduate course in Video Game History in the 2007-8 academic year. This course will provide a historical and critical approach to the evolution of computer and video game design from its beginnings to the present. It is a 5 credit course taught as an elective course to undergraduates over the course of a 10-week quarter. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in a relevant field, teaching experience at the university level, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Course focus is the history and theory of Hollywood studio animation, world animation, and contemporary independent animation. It is a 5 credit course taught as an elective course to undergraduates over the course of a 10-week quarter. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in a relevant field, teaching experience at the university level, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Hourly Jobs listing:

Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design Assistant Systems Administrator (Systems Programmer III)

Job Description: Part-time assistant(s) needed to aid in management of workstations and data network elements.

The successful candidate will be a second or third year student in CSE, will demonstrate proficiency in ad-hoc programming and scripting techniques, and will demonstrate interest in the success of digital artists. Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X is required. Attention to detail is critical. Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in written documentation are essential.

Familiarity with visual arts and computer graphics concepts is strongly desired but not required. Experience with professional video equipment a plus. Experience with software distribution a plus.

Must be enrolled for at least 6 hours at OSU year round.

Hours: up to 20 hours/week (more available during breaks)

Pay: Up to $10.00/hr based on experience.
