This
project was a semifinalist for the prestigious GII, Global
Information Infrastructure award.
MISSION (Medical Imaging Support via Satellite Integrated
Optical Network) was a feasibility study funded by ARPA that
experiments with the use of the NASA ACTS (Advanced Communication
Technology Satellite) gigabit satellite linkage combined with
supercomputing and graphic visualization power to validate
novel medical applications such as distributed radiation treatment
planning and remote medical triage support.

project was spearheaded by the University of Hawaii at
Manoa (UH) and was a joint effort between UH, ACCAD and
the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), and Georgetown
University. |
