2003's
Digital Animation: A Technology Mentoring Program for Young Women
included fourteen girls from Columbus-area public and private high
schools and one teacher from each of the five Columbus Public Schools
Arts & Communication Academies high schools.
This
year's topic was Art & Social Change with a focus on
area wetlands. During the first week of the program we travelled
to the wetland at Chestnut Ridge Metro Park, researched issues surrounding
wetlands preservation, and visited an exhibit on art and social
change at the Columbus Museum of Art. In the second week of the
program the girls created final animation projects using their research
and software experiences from the preceeding week.
