2005 Program

2005's Digital Animation: A Mentoring Program for Young Women at The Ohio State University took place in the summer, June 20 - July 1, 2005 with eighteen young women from Columbus area public and private high schools. These young women were mentored during their two-week study by six women graduate students and two staff members from ACCAD.

This year's program looks at digital artists as proponents of social change through their art and animation. Projects focused on creating 3D animation with Maya on the topic of Ohio's Darby Creek watershed, its history, value and preservation needs. During the first week of the program we traveled to the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park and researched issues surrounding the creek and watershed. In the second week of the program the girls created final animation projects that visualized their thoughts, research and opinions on Darby Creek using their research and software experiences from the preceding week. To see the animations produced, please go to the creek project page.

This project is supported by the Ingram-White Castle Foundation, the Charlotte R. Haller, and Willard H. and Katherine J. Armstrong Funds of The Columbus Foundation, Mrs. Barbara Fergus, and Peachpit Press
