Mentors: Charlotte Belland

Charlotte Belland
Charlotte Belland (2001) completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1997 at The Columbus College of Art and Design as a four-year Battelle Scholar. She was named Outstanding Senior of the Advertising and Graphic Design Department. Extra-curricular work with animation directed her to further study at The Ohio State University where she completed a Masters of Fine Arts in Computer Visualization in the Spring of 2000. Afterwards, Belland taught storyboarding, computer animation, and traditional animation at The Columbus College of Art and Design. Currently, she is teaching animation at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design at The Ohio State University. Belland has been concered about the perceptions most of her female colleagues have had that turned them away from technological opportunities in art. She has found that technology has become a tool that extends her creative opportunities for expression. She is pleased to participate in the summerDesign + Technology Program for high-school women to demonstrate opportunities for their pursuit, to help them develop beginning skills in artistic expression through technology, and to work as a colleague with them so that they can form a more concrete perception of their own opportunities for expression.
