For this project our team selected "horror" as our film genre and chose to tell a rough story for our presentation.

Stage Pre-set

Image 2

Sun fades up from outside the basement window. The sound of birds singing fades up.

Image 3

Daytime scene with some added fill lighiting. Sunlight streams in through the window into the basement workshop.

Image 4

Scene shifts to night. Cool blue lighting with just a hint of light coming in through the window. The birds fade out and crickets begin to chirp.

Image 5

A creaking door somewhere off stage opens and illuminates the floor for a brief moment.

Image 6

The door closes. We hear the sound of footsteps coming down a staircase.

Image 7

Single light bulb is illuminated with the sound of a pull chain and swings back and forth over the scene.

Image 8

The bulb burns out with the sound of electrical static/sizzle. We hear the footsteps return to the stairs, climb to the top, and the sound of a body falling and striking the bottom of the stairs with an "oof!"

Image 9

Suspensful music fades in and an ominous shadow is cast on the back wall of some strange figure, slowly getting closer and closer.

Image 10

The music intensifies as our "creature" makes it onto stage. Back lighting hides the features and creates an eerie silhouette.

Image 11

The halogen light is added as the saw is started creating a rim of light around the actor and saw.

Image 12

As the saw stops two different colored lighting cues illuminate our actor in the horror style. First, blue light from stage left with green from stage right.

Image 13

Second, green light alone creating long, harsh shadows. The scene then cuts to black as we hear the cackle of a witch.

Image 14

Gradually, the night time lighting returns and the crickets begin to chirp once again.

Image 15

Night fades into day light as the birds begin to sing. The night cycle is complete.
