lighting

With Bert Poole!

the assignments were to try lighting on a provided still, a still chosen by us for our character, and in an environment made for our character. after feedback, the lighting on the chosen background was the most successful.

set up

feedback from Bert Poole: the color of the character is very hard to light in this scene, but given that problem, the lighting is an overall success. the backlight might be increased a bit.

lighting in an environment

feedback from Bert Poole: the most difficult scenes to make interesting are the ones with little environment. this scene is a bit boring because the environment is so minimal.

lighting on a chosen still

rendered movie on a background that fits my character

feedback from Bert Poole: a success. reads perfectly.

set up

to emulate the shadows of the rail and wall cast on the stones, i used a strong directional light. the two additional bounces are meant to convey the bounce on the castle wall and ground. because both are light surfaces, they cast white light as well.
