This is an autonomous dancer given prompts for a step sequence from Dance Dance Revolution, will figure out what steps it should take given a current foot configuration. Still needs some logic tweaking and look ahead, but it still does fairly well given its current logic. I trick the Cosmo player into playing mp3s just by renaming them to wavs, thus you need the mp3 codec in your windows multimedia layer.
You may need a pretty high end system. This was mostly tested on IE 6 + Win2K + GeForce + 933 MHz and I know it works on the beefier ACCAD machines, the ones with the GeForce 3 and dual processors- its pretty choppy on some of the ACCAD systems.
Things I would still like to add, in no particular order:
- move the center of the dancer (no more zero g dancing)
- fix the gap on some songs (you're not following the music)
- the announcer (have you had breakfast this morning?)
- fix it so the "light" doesn't block the play button (oops)
- fix the model rotation so it rotates properly, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (huh?)
- drop down menu to pick the models and song in vrml (combobox in vrml)
- maniac mode for others (i was just too lazy to copy the dwi for the maniac on some songs)
- motion in the upper body (riverdance dance revolution)
- java for computation and dwi parsing (noise is expensive!)
- better logic, and look ahead to prep on non step sections, or possibly use some learning code in conjunction with look ahead (no dummy, you start on the right foot!)
- more visualizations, ala winamp; one i wanted to make was a logo turtle that turned according to the steps (ooh, pretty)
- motion capture, if not that IK; just better motion in general (doomo arigatoo mr roboto)
- code cleanup to make the model completely h-anim compliant (DEFs are not compliant)
- 16th notes, triplets, and freezes (cool)
- freestyling, turning, knee-drops, handstands, flips, etc. (more cool)
- doubles, unison, versus (too much stuff to do!)
