Dr. Mayo of the The Ohio State University created the multi-racial initiative (CM-RI) in 1991. The mission was to create a traveling exhibit and video tape of African American and other minority designers to be used as a tool that will encourage minority students to pursue careers in the design arts. The diversity in design exhibit was introduced to the public at the IDSA conference in Atlanta, GA in 1993. Since then, this exhibit continues to grow and has traveled to such places as Chicago for the first OBD national conference; Arizona State University for the IDSA conference; and the Ace Gallery in Columbus, OH. It has also traveled to several locations in the Central Ohio area. |
