Apple Computer, Inc. has recognized R. Brian Stone as one of the top educational technology leaders in the country. Stone, an Associate Professor in the department of Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication Design at The Ohio State University Ohio State will serve as an Apple Distinguished Educator in the area of Design. The ADE program recognizes educators who most innovatively integrate technology into their curriculum. “Being an Apple Distinguished Educator is not just about having the title; it’s an opportunity for me to find out what's new and effective in technology and pass that along to area teachers trying to give their students advantages in the classroom,” said Stone. Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) are a select group of K-12 and Higher Education educators who exemplify best practices. When new technologies are developed, these leading educators are the first to make effective use of technology to support learning objectives in the classroom. They also model effective administrative leadership and teacher professionalism. As mentors, they influence other educators by presenting their successes at key conferences and events, leading hands-on workshops, and getting actively involved at the local, state, and national levels. They are committed to engage, motivate, and inspire young minds. During their tenure, Apple Distinguished Educators are empowered with hardware, software, and professional development.
