Thompson had a keen interest in truck and tractor styling. Truck packages offered much more design opportunity than automobiles. With truck styling you could work on several different ideas and concepts in one package. Thompson's work exhibited this many times throughout his career. He developed several proposals for vehicles employed in urban settings and crowded streets. In 1965, Thompson developed a smaller version of Ford's standard agricultural tractor. In 1958, Thompson designed a polished aluminum skirt that would tilt up with the rest of a tractor cab in order to cover a gap created by Ford's new diesel engine. |
