Ernie: A Photographer's Memoir

There are a number of pictures in the book of Ernie looking at pictures. It was winter in New York and Ernie and I enjoyed staring at this picture of the girl in the Bahamas. The Dejavu letterhead behind Ernie came from a French magazine that republished pictures already published (thus Dejavu) without the original text or context, and wanted to republish a picture of Ernie. The letter at the top right was a rejection letter from Artforum. I proposed they print a centerfold with two of my favorite pictures, Ernie chasing a dragonfly on the left, and a dog about to squash an ant on the right. The rejection letter makes me nostalgic for the old days as a starving artist in New York.
