Ernie: A Photographer's Memoir

I like this image of Ernie. He looks like a tiger, and as Ernie himself says in the book, he is no cuddly, cutie-pie cat. This was how the picture was taken: I was eating dinner and I had noticed earlier that Ernie was hanging around under the table. I had my camera with the flash attached sitting on the table. At some point, I lowered the camera under the table, aimed it without looking where I guessed Ernie might be, and shot one picture. Later, when I looked at the contact sheet, I was delighted to see how well composed the picture was. The fierce tiger-like expression was a yawn, caught at the middle point. The wonders of flash.
