Click on the image to the left to play a 5 sec movie: this is a test for a floor projection, version working with a shadow of an invisible performer, shot from above. The sequence is currently very short and has some artifacts, a better version will be available soon.

Masking out background like this is possible in AfterEffects, not sure if it's possible in Final Cut or whatever is available to Maya, to create similar effect for video.

 

 

 

With masking like these scrims almost look like paper strips. Torn diary pages?

These two scrims are a little narrower than in Maya's sketch. I am not insisting on this size,this is just to accommodate the other two.

Height is arbitrary as well.

In cases when animation or video are hard to squeeze into a narrow scrim it can be divided in four projections, naturally requiring four projectors...
Variations in white.
"Lemons" are particularly hard to read in a single narrow vertical layout. The alternative to four scrims is going back to the single wider scrim.
