He will present a lecture on Sound Design for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Environments. Brad Garton is a faculty member in the Music Composition Department at Columbia University, and he serves as Director of the Computer Music Center at Columbia. Also at Columbia University, he co-founded the MA in Sound Arts in collaboration with the School of Art. Professor Garton is the primary developer (with Dave Topper) of RTcmix, a real time music synthesis/ signal-processing language. His current work includes focused research on the modeling and enhancement of acoustic spaces, as well as the modeling of human musical performance on various virtual "instruments." Prof. Garton's visit is being sponsored by the Humane Technologies Discovery Theme Project.
