Moving Image Production

Moving-Image Production (MIP) is a new BA program in live-action and animated filmmaking, which accepted it's first cohort of students in fall of 2017. Administered by the Film Studies program, MIP is an interdisciplinary major that combines teaching and research expertise from faculty in Art, Dance, Design, Theatre, as well as our Center, ACCAD.

ACCAD courses that are part of the animation "mode" include:

ACCAD 5001: Motion Studies Through Hand-Drawn Animation
ACCAD 5002, 3D Computer Animation: Form, Light, Motion -I
ACCAD 5003: 3D Computer Animation: Form, Light, Motion II
ACCAD 5100: Concept Development for Time-Based Media

These courses are taught in a computer lab where students learn 3D computer animation software.

The MIP program is designed to provide students the opportunity for study in the increasingly interdisciplinary professional field of moving-image production. Integrating theory and practice, it is designed to produce filmmakers with critical-thinking sills and independent voices, who will bring new vision to the film industry, independent cinema and visual culture.
