Once each year, the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) invites the community to tour our center and engage with our research. As one of the first computer graphics centers in the world and an internationally recognized hub for computer animation and emerging technologies, ACCAD functions as an applied collaboratory—a space where faculty and graduate students from across the university converge to make, imagine, and connect. This event is free and open to all.
Guests are encouraged to explore our open labs at their own pace. This is an opportunity to observe, ask questions, and physically interact with the interdisciplinary research, course work, and thesis projects that define ACCAD’s innovative agenda.
Featured 2026 projects include:
- Animation: A showcase of undergraduate and graduate 3D animation.
- Planetarium & Spatial Media: Fulldome creation and immersive experiences.
- 3D Scanning: Research, digital preservation, and fabrication applications.
- Games & Theory: Digital and analog game design and the evaluation of virtual experiences.
- Motion Capture: Performance-based research and motion-tracking applications.
- Immersive Environments: VR/AR showcases, interactive visualizations, and immersive rooms.
- Sonic Arts: Immersive audio and surround-sound projects.
ACCAD provides a dedicated space for new knowledge generation through intense study and collaborative application. The Open House offers a unique opportunity to experience this ever-changing landscape of research in an open-lab setting.
