Description: A hands-on experience with motion capture technologies, addressing contexts and applications. Students learn to operate within an optical motion capture pipeline for recording, real-time retargeting and post-processing of full body human motion and props, as well as developing their own approaches and processes for experimenting with capturing and remapping motion. Prereq: Graduate standing for Graduate section.  Repeatable to a maximum of 6 cr hrs.

Description: This course focuses on the creation of interactive and responsive spaces through the design of experiential media systems within the context of their underlying history, methodology, technology, and theory. Using a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, students create hybrid digital-physical experiences which investigate the application of the technology used in experiential media design. Description: This Livable Futures course fosters creative and scholarly responses to planetary conditions of crisis and uncertainty. Livability is a term that encompasses social, technological, and ecological justice by inviting critical re-thinking of who survives and who gets to thrive in our communities and extending that consideration to more-than-human life. Students collaborate in ongoing faculty research and are guided in creating their own projects responding to the themes of the course. We will read a shared text for the semester and attend performances, screenings, and public dialogs together and explore novel forms of synthesis. Students in this course are eligible to receive funding to support their projects provided by the instructor’s Ratner Award for Distinguished Teaching. Both Graduate and Undergraduate sections need a proposal for number of credit hours and Instructor Permission for enrollment.
