ACCAD Hosts Renowned Artists Miller Puckette, Kerry Hagan, and Irwin for Concerts and Lectures

Miller Puckette, Kerry Hagan, and Irwin presented concerts and lectures at ACCAD for 3 days, February 23-25.

Miller Puckette, recipient of the 2023 Silver Lion at La Biennale di Venezia, is the celebrated author of the ubiquitous Max and Pd programs that have enabled so much interactive music, art, dance, and theater since the 1980s. Kerry Hagan is a composer and current President of the International Computer Music Association; and Irwin is a well-known computer music performer and composer who has been performing with Puckette for many years.

The group presented two concerts of their music and multimedia works on February 24, which, incidentally, was also a showcase for many of the unique sonic, visual, and networking capabilities of ACCAD’s Motion Lab.

In addition to these concerts, Miller presented a guest lecture at ACCAD (“How To Design the Musical Instrument You Always Wanted to Play”), as well as a guest lecture in Dr. Ainger’s computer music class. Kerry Hagan presented a guest lecture in Jean-Yves Munch’s immersive audio class, playing several examples from her own work.

This visit was a wonderful opportunity for the Ohio State University community to interact with these remarkable artists.
