Carmina Burana a Visual Concert Experience

An interdisciplinary concert experience will be open to the public this Sunday, February 25th. Two newly devised performances will be offered of the Carl Orff masterpiece, Carmina Burana. After many months of behind the scenes planning and experimenting, two faculty collaborators, Anna Gawboy, associate professor of Music Theory and Alex Oliszewski, assistant professor of Theatrical Media Design and Media Devising (Theatre/ACCAD) have created a uniquely visual concert experience. While the chorus and orchestra perform, visual imagery created in-house and inspired by the musical score will interact with the musical performance in real-time. Alex Oliszewski developed a visual instrument and designed the image content. Anna Gawboy scored the visual imagery and will perform the instrument live during the concert with several music theory graduate students.
